Questions from my wife…

My wife took me up on my offer and asked me 11 questions (some with multiple parts). Apparently she’s trying to get back at me for asking her what she thought were some tough questions. So, here we go.

a) If you had to live on your own, how would you survive? What would you do when you ran out of clean clothes?
Well, I can manage to make myself meals, although they wouldn’t be nearly as good as what you create. I think I could manage to do laundry, although I would probably procrastinate it even more than you do.
b) What Star Trek character do you most identify with, and why?
That’s a hard question… I think I’ll have to say Wesley Crusher, although there’s probably more differences than similarities. We’re both fairly intelligent and like playing with computers. However, I luckily have not had to deal with the death of a parent, being in an Academy scandal, or journeying to other planes of existence. There’s probably a character that’s a better match, but I can’t think of one right now. Perhaps Reginald Barclay? Anyone out there have another suggestion?
c) You used to play blue magic decks, but now you seem to favor red. What magic color do you think best fits your personality?
Well, I think that White is closest to my personality. It is the color of rules, order, cooperation, and purity (Source). I vary the colors that I play as they each have different strategies, and part of the fun of Magic is the zillions of strategies and possibilities.
d) What is your favorite book of the bible?
I think I’ll have to say Daniel. Daniel is a very good role model. Plus, the stories are quite interesting and engaging to read.
e) Why don’t you wear fuzzy clothing?
Because I don’t own any, and I don’t see much of a purpose in purchasing some. Do you think I should?
f) How can I convince you to do housework? Would it be worth it?
I have no idea.

I was gratified to be able to answer promptly, and I did. I said I didn’t know. — Mark Twain

g) What is your favorite game?
I think I’m going to have to say Magic, as it has an amazing amount of depth and strategy.
h) What fruit do you feel best represents your outlook on life, and why?
The apple. Because OS X looks really, really nice.
i) Why do you enjoy playing violent video games?
Well, I rather try to ignore the violence, and would prefer a blood-free option. However, I appreciate the skill and effort required to move around, target people, and accomplish goals. Violent video games work much like Paintball… it’s a lot of fun, and nobody really gets hurt.
j) What is your opinion of the presidential candidates? If you could personally choose the next president, who would you choose?
I really haven’t been following the race as much as I ought to… I think that Bush and his advisers have been doing a decent job, and will do a better job than Kerry. If I could pick anyone, I’ll say Rush Limbaugh, although that has the downside that he doesn’t actually want the job. He does, however, have an awful lot of common sense, which is significantly lacking in politics today.

Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

k) What question do you hope that no one will ask you?
I really can’t think of any… I can’t promise to answer everything, but as I said, “I’ll do my best to answer them.” I want people to be able to ask whatever they want to know. Questions are very powerful tools.

Add to list of LJ complaints: No way to save drafts of journal entries that you’re working on writing

And now, it is much past my bedtime. Got to go to work tomorrow.

Edit: changed questions into a cut.

  1. Rush… Limbaugh…

I mean, yeah, maybe you agree with all his policy standpoints, which might make him a decent president in your eyes.

But his argumentation style, well, isn’t. His dialog on his show can be termed, at best, masturbatory rhetoric. (It’s not convincing anyone else; it’s making the people who already agree feel good about themselves.)

White is the single center of reason, with a rigid set of universalistic (apodictic) assumptions.

Blue is the acknowledgment of many, many valid centers of reason, and knowing what they are and how their adherents can be manipulated to your ends in the overriding power struggle.

Due to white’s intense specialization, it can hold its own against blue who, while intensely clever, cannot necessarily thwart the power of a massive body of citizens working in unison towards a common cause, united in viewing the world through a single, specialized filter.

I’m more blue-green. I recognize the validity of multiple centers of reason (blue) while centering myself around my own natural aesthetic (green).

Unfortunately, that leaves me playing U/G madness, which is intensely boring and unoriginal. :(

  2. Yeah, Rush probably wasn’t the best choice, but it was late and he was the first name that popped into mind.

And as usual, I have no idea what you’re saying when you ramble on like that :).

  3. learn the helpful skill of an lj cut. i love reading long posts, but they fill up my friends page. i like to ba able to open them on my own…and be warned what i will read way ahead of time. the faq can tell you how to do it, correctly. i usually do the cop out way…

  4. Sure. I wasn’t sure how long was considered “long”, and I didn’t realize quite how long it was until I posted it.
