Webiness

Peter Cooper Jr.

I finally got around to installing Apache and putting it up on my FreeBSD box. I’m now hosting my web site at http://www.cooperjr.name/, where I copied relevant stuff from my WPI space (which now redirects to the new site) and also my picture archive.

And now, I think I’ll stop procrastinating and start printing envelopes for our Christmas Cards.

Happiness! Excitement!

Peter Cooper Jr.

I just finished my last test. Last. Ever. (Or at least, last school-related test in the foreseeable future.) And I think I did very very well on it. I am happy.

And tonight, I get to try running another tournament at Card Stop.

I’ve made a name for myself

Peter Cooper Jr.

After considering my options for quite some time, I decided that since I’m leaving WPI and want to run my own Internet site for mail and such, that I’d go register my own domain name. I’ll run my own mail and web server, and if Charter complains I’ll deal with it then. (I may in fact want a business account, as I may in fact run a (very) small business out of my home someday.)

Homeschooling our kids looks better and better

Peter Cooper Jr.

Next Wednesday, Newton North High School is hosting a “Transgender Bisexual Gay & Lesbian Appreciation Day”, where students are taken out of classes for an all-day event to attend seminars on homosexuality, answering questions like “What happens when ones gender identity does not match their sex?” and “What does it mean to be a family?”.

Two main issues I have with this: First, it’s using public funding (that is, my tax dollars). Second, parents haven’t been notified. From what little I can gather on the Internet, apparently there was some disagreement last year about whether parents were notified, and this year I haven’t found anything other than Article 8‘s update that just states that “parents haven’t been notified”. (It is on their school’s calendar, but I don’t know if parents check that on a regular basis.)

Random Life Update

Peter Cooper Jr.

I’m having trouble sleeping again tonight, likely at least in part due to this persistent cough that’s leftover from my cold. *sigh*

I played in an Unhinged booster draft at Wedge gaming tonight. It was much fun. I came in 2nd place, and got most of the rest of what I need to have a complete set. All that’s left for me to collect is Staying Power, Super Secret Tech, and ideally a completely-blank-with-silver-border filler card that I saw existed when someone opened one at the tournament I ran last week.

Being sick is not fun

Peter Cooper Jr.

So, I’ve been sick this week. Occasionally I’d have a runny nose, but the real problem is coughing and a sore throat. It’s been tough to sleep since I keep on coughing. So now, I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.

House Building Update

Peter Cooper Jr.

We got an estimate today from a real estate person about the value of our land and the value of our house once it was built. So, we brought it to the bank and signed oodles and oodles of forms, occasionally with inaccurate information that the manager promised to correct later. (Apparently, they missed a decimal point somewhere and had down my bank account assets as being ten times what they actually were. Also, the form saying how much we needed to pay back eventually was blank, indicating that we wouldn’t need to pay anything. They didn’t want us to sign that one yet.)
