This new daylight savings time switch this year is so much worse than Y2K. I’m pretty sure that my meetings at work for the next few weeks will be screwed up by an hour or so, as some people have a patch installed, some don’t, and Outlook doesn’t deal well with changing time zones.

Interestingly, after our performance at the Dreamblade 1k last weekend, Jessi and I are tied for 6th place in Dreamblade points in Massachusetts.
So, today, in a somewhat last-minute decision, me and my wife decided to play in a Dreamblade 1k tournament at Your Move Games Somerville. Attendance was a pretty low 14, probably due in part to the New York 10k also happening this weekend. Due to a good amount of luck on my part, both in my pairings and in my dice rolls, I managed to get 3rd place, with a $100 prize. (My wife, unfortunately, didn’t do nearly as well, although I thought that she had the better warband.)
So last night I decided to stop by the new gaming store in “Worcester”, Rising Phoenix Games.
Starting next Friday we’ll be starting the Friday Night Magic program there, with me as the Tournament Organizer and Judge.
Another completely random thing that I wanted to mention is that I’ve written some test questions for use on Magic and Dreamblade judge tests (they solicit questions from all judges to continually improve their question database), and while it’s taken them a while, not only are a couple of my questions actually being used on tests now, some of them have been translated into some other languages. It’s just kind of neat to see a question I wrote in Italian, Chinese, and Portugese, as I can’t read it but I know what it says, since I wrote it in the first place.
On January 21, shortly after leaving our house on the way to the Planar Chaos prerelease, my car skidded on a patch of ice and took some structural damage. (For instance, the front wheels were no longer pointing in the same direction.) As accidents go, it was probably about the best you could ask for, as nobody was hurt, nobody else was involved, the car was drivable enough to get it home (and later to the shop), and insurance is covering it all so I’ll just need to pay the deductible.
And that’s just what’s on my calendar so far… I expect it to fill up more as the year continues.
I found my watch in the dryer this morning.
