The Microsoft Windows Vista operating system

Peter Cooper Jr.

I saw a message board post that DCI Reporter (Wizards of the Coast’s tournament pairings and management software) doesn’t work on Windows Vista (which is rather impressive in and of itself, I think, especially as it’s a .NET application), and it got me to thinking: I kind of need to keep on reminding myself that Windows Vista ia actually, like, out and released. I just did some brief research and apparently it has been out for several months now. I’m not sure I’ve actually seen a copy of it running on a computer anywhere. Is Vista just unusually not being picked up by people, or is my circle of influence just unusual?

Upcoming Judging Schedule

Peter Cooper Jr.

I realized I never stated on here that I judged at Grand Prix Massachusetts, which was a lot of fun, and quite challenging, as the format was new to many players and many of the judges.

Coming up this weekend I have the Dreamblade Hartford 10K, which will be very nice as there have been no big Dreamblade events in the area. People with even a remote interest in a miniatures strategy game should learn the game, put together a warband, and come. There are cash prizes being given out to top 32, and booster pack prizes given to top 64, and I doubt we’ll break 100 players. I’ll be judging and Jessi will be playing. On Sunday, there will be a slightly smaller 1k event, which is Sealed Box, so you don’t even need to put together a warband ahead of time.

Continuing attempts to establish a blacklist

Peter Cooper Jr.

On March 28, I wrote a letter (like, an actual physical one) to my postmaster (again, the actual physical one, responsible for delivery of physical mail to Charlton, MA) asking them to not deliver me mail from the six addresses that had sent me the junk mail that was in the stack next to me at the moment.

Since that time, I have continued to receive mail from those address.

Wii!

Peter Cooper Jr.

I finally managed to order a Wii. It should be arriving early next week.

My outgoing mailbox today

Peter Cooper Jr.

In my mailbox today, I have many pieces of junk mail from the past few weeks, marked “Refused”, plus the following letter I wrote to the Charlton Postmaster.

March 26, 2007

Dear Postmaster,

In accordance with DMM 508, section 1.1.4, or any other applicable postal regulation, I hereby request that you not deliver to either of us any mail from any of the following addresses, for the maximum length of time that such an order can be good for. We do not want mail from any of these places, and did not ask for it. Thank you.

Judging Schedule

Peter Cooper Jr.

I’m continuing to run weekly FNM events at Rising Phoenix Games.

March 30 through April 1, I’m going to be judging at Grand Prix Massachusetts in Fitchburg. They’re actually putting me up in a hotel room while I’m there.

April 21, I’ll be judging at the Connecticut Future Sight Prerelease.

May 5 & 6, I’ll be judging at the University of Hartford Dreamblade 10K event. Also that weekend I’m supposed to run a Future Sight release event at Rising Phoenix Games, so I’m not sure how that’s going to work right now.

Random thought of the day: Email Emergency Access

Peter Cooper Jr.

A recent phone outage at work has got me thinking of this again, although I’ve thought of it before: Why isn’t there some email or web equivilent to 911? I’m much more likely to have network access and not phone access, than I am to have phone access and not network access.
