Today I received my Dell PowerConnect 2716 that I ordered this weekend. It’s a 16-port gigabit switch and supports web management, cable testing, port mirroring, link aggregation, VLANs, QoS, and some acronyms that I don’t recognize. It’ll be the backbone of our home network once our house is done.
Very cool. Does this mean we can look forward to VPN and Terminal Server access to CooperNET?
Also, did your website’s Wiki Die A Horrible Death(tm) when you switched to GeekISP, or is that quotes page coming back some day?
If I could conceive of a reason to allow VPN access, I suppose I could do it. I’m still on a 768/256 connection to the Internet. (It’ll likely be 3M/256 at our own house once it’s wired.) And, I don’t have any publicly-accessible Internet services hosted here anymore. It’s more for the LAN parties.
I didn’t bother setting up the wiki on GeekISP’s server, since it wasn’t used a whole lot. I’ll put the quotes page back up eventually if there’s popular demand.
