We’ve got land!

On a whim, I headed over to the Worcester Registry of Deeds site today and searched to see if the land transfer from my parents had become official. Amazingly enough, it had, as of yesterday. I downloaded the Official Registered Plans marking the lot as well as the Official Deed saying that the land has become ours. It’s kinda neat—Jessi and I are landowners now.

Rather than put you though needing to use their horrible searching interface, I put the Official Images up on my computer for people who are interested (and so I have a copy). Warning: they’re in TIFF format.

Digging through ‘s code is fun! (I’m assuming he won’t have a problem with me posting this; I’ll be happy to take it down if he does.)

These are a few of my favorite things…

Next on the list, asked:

For each of the following sets of things, list your favorite and explain why…
1) Star Trek: TNG episode

Hmm… This is a tough one. I’ve looked through the entire episode listing, and I just can’t pick just one… There’s so many good choices here. Sorry…

2) Bible verse

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

This verse just keeps on reminding me that God is in control, and that when I let Him be in change of things, everythng will work out better.

3) Board Game (no card games!)

I guess I’ve have to say Chess, but there are many other games that I like as well. I like strategy games.

4) Programming Language (no experience with the language necessary)

Scheme. No contest. It’s a wonderful language for learning about CS theory.

5) alien race from any Sci-Fi series

I think I’d have to go with the Vulcans. No particular reason… maybe I just identify with them more.

Now, Look at JPEGs

I have Pictures from Costa Rica! I found a reasonable photo gallery program that let me be lazy, and decided to host them off my computer anyway. Maybe one day I’ll scan in some of our wedding pictures and post them as well.

Right now, there’s a folder there per roll of film, and the pictures are not labeled or organized in any way. Perhaps, one day, it might get fixed.

Keep in mind that this is being hosted off my computer, so it’s possible that it has slightly less reliability and bandwidth than your average commercial web server.

Costa Rica Pictures

So, I have pictures that Jessi and I took in Costa Rica, although many came out fuzzy or with fingers in front of the lens. I also have a copy of the pictures that were from the team camera. I would like to share these pictures with other people. The problem is, these pictures total over 150 megs, and I’m not sure where to host them. Yahoo’s got a photo service, but the UI stinks and you can’t get the full-size picture back from them. (They have thumbnails, and you can click the thumbnail to get a slightly larger picture, but I don’t think they store or let you get back the full-size picture again. At least, I couldn’t figure out how.)

I could host them off of my computer, but (a) I don’t have that much upload bandwidth, (b) Charter could get testy if I start hosting big files off my computer, and (c) I don’t want to go through the hassle of making thumbnails and gallery pages.

Does anyone else have a suggestion, or a way for Yahoo to do what I want?
